Colin Clark MA
Colin Clark is a professional artist and illustrator working in Cheltenham, UK. Colin’s practice is wide-ranging, producing paintings, drawings and artists books alongside illustration work across multiple formats. Colin’s primary inspiration is the natural world and how our engagement with it can benefit our mental and emotional wellbeing.
‘Stillness & Storm’ reflects my experience of painting and drawing in high winds and sleet to blistering heat throughout the year. But over time I recognised a deeper resonance in my practice and considered more closely what this visceral experience of painting meant. My conscious mind made way for an embodied, present sense and my paintings reflected this altered state. I noticed something new emerging that had a life of its own in the work. Landscape, woodland and the changing weather became an allegory for finding peace and calm amidst turmoil and what becomes true for me when this happens.
